The Last Bite Documentary

At just 14 months old, Braxton Kimura was diagnosed with a life-threatening peanut allergy. Soon after, his family discovered he was also allergic to tree nuts and shellfish. What began as a medical emergency became a daily way of life, one that requires constant vigilance with every bite.
This summer, Braxton and his organization Beyond the Shell are releasing The Last Bite, a powerful short documentary that follows the daily reality of living with a severe food allergy, where every meal could be your last. With the tagline “Survival. Strength. Vigilance.”, the film offers an unfiltered look into what it means to live with a condition that affects more than 33 million Americans, yet remains widely misunderstood. One of the documentary’s most striking moments shows Braxton undergoing a skin prick test, a painful but common procedure used to measure allergic responses.
“My goal is to help people better understand the daily challenges and realities that often go unseen,” says Kimura. “If even one person becomes more aware, more empathetic, or better prepared to help in an emergency, then it’s all worth it.”
Now a high school student, Braxton has transformed his personal struggle into purpose. He’s an active member of FARE’s Teen Advisory Group (TAG), a youth ambassador for Red Sneakers for Oakley, and the founder of the Food Allergy Club at Pinewood School. Most notably, he launched a national awareness and advocacy initiative, Beyond the Shell. One of Beyond the Shell’s first major efforts was organizing the Food Allergy Awareness & Fundraising Walk in May 2025 at Mitchell Park in Palo Alto, California. The event brought together families, advocates, and supporters from across the Bay Area.
